Salary: $58,000 – $72,000 per year

About the Role
Mountain View Fire Rescue is looking for an organized, people-focused Human Resources Coordinator to support our HR Department. In this role, you’ll help with recruitment and onboarding, benefits and leave administration, personnel records, and everyday HR customer service. You’ll be a trusted resource for employees and supervisors, keeping personnel information confidential and following District policies and employment laws.
This is an entry-level professional HR position, a great fit for someone ready to build a career in Human Resources.
What You’ll Do
- Support recruitment by posting positions, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, reference checks, and new hire paperwork
- Assist with employee onboarding and new employee orientation
- Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files, HR databases, and applicant tracking records
- Process employee status changes, including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations
- Help employees with benefit enrollment, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment
- Track leave balances and support FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and other leave processes
- Support employee engagement, recognition, training, and development programs
- Prepare reports and correspondence, maintain HR calendars, and assist with special projects
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise good judgment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of HR principles and practices, or the ability to learn and apply employment laws and District policies
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- CPR certification
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. and travel between District locations
- May be required to work overtime
